On behalf of Sevenoaks Green Party, I would like to thank Dr Ramewal and his team for their hard work at last week’s election count. It turned out to be a very busy day, but everyone did their job with care and professionalism. I’m also grateful to those who voted for us on May 4th. With their support we now have the first Green councillors on SDC.
Laura Manston, Shani Manamperi, Mark Lindop and Michael Barker were all convincing winners in their respective wards. I know that they will be strong independent voices in a council still dominated by the Conservatives. The same is true in many other parts of the country. Laura, Shani, Mark and Michael are examples of a national Green wave which saw the party win 241 more council seats last Thursday – our best results ever.
For Greens here in Sevenoaks, this is just the beginning. We look forward to even greater success in the years ahead.
